Fitness enthusiast and reviewer from Paris

The Short Version

I’m Marie Dupont, based in Paris, and for several years I’ve chronicled my experiences at gyms across France.

This site came about after growing weary of selecting gyms by slick ads and vague suggestions, only to find the reality didn’t match what was promised. I wanted precise, candid details about what these places were really like. Not finding them, I chose to build them myself.

How This Started

My fitness journey started at a modest club close to 39 Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. It wasn’t flawless, yet it was reachable, affordable, and it helped me stay regular.

When that place closed, I saw how fast the fitness landscape in France was changing. New studios emerged, fresh ideas came up, and marketing grew louder than the actual member experience.

I began testing different gyms and classes, jotting down notes after each visit. Gradually those notes became this site, designed to help others choose more clearly.

My Approach to Reviews

Each review here comes from actual visits and time spent inside the facility. I concentrate on practical details that matter when deciding on a membership.

When I review a fitness center, I typically:

  • Allocate enough time to grasp routines, busy periods, and patterns
  • visit across various days and times
  • test more than one training style and coach
  • use the facilities routinely to assess cleanliness and comfort
  • speak with other members about what's consistent and what's not
  • jot down notes right after each visit

I revise reviews when major changes occur: renovations, changes in management, price shifts, or new amenities. Each piece displays its last update date so you can gauge how current the information remains.

What I Look For

My priorities might differ from yours, so here is what matters most to me when evaluating a fitness center:

Comfort and Privacy: Does the space feel thoughtfully laid out for members, with clear boundaries and a tranquil vibe?

Equipment Quality: Are machines well kept? Is there adequate variety? Are repairs prompt?

Crowd Management: Is it possible to train at your preferred times without excessive waiting?

Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Sanitation reflects how seriously management takes the member experience.

Honest Membership Practices: Clear pricing, clear rules, and no nasty surprises.

Beyond the Gym

Outside of workouts and writing, I reside and work in Paris. This project aims to simplify and clarify fitness choices for those seeking the right setting.
